Butter was another important domestic industry that many homesteaders engaged in. Most families had at least one or two cows for milk. Housewives could then sell butter and eggs for a little extra cash in their community. This butter churn was found in the cellar of an abandoned homestead in the White Mountain district outside of Spirit River totally in pieces. It was restored by Jerry Dike of Rycroft.
