1901
South Peace Regional Archives
The 1901 Census is a federal government record archived in Ottawa and available on-line at Library & Archives Canada. This is the working copy used to create the final report. It was taken by Metis St. Pierre Ferguson on horseback all over the Athabaska District, and covers communities at Smoky River Forks, Dunvegan, Spirit River, Grand Prairie, Sturgeon Lake, and Lesser Slave Lake. Censuses, especially the long form census, are invaluable resources for genealogists and historians.
