NAR Station Museum, Dawson Creek
This model was built by Mrs. Nello Ravelli (formerly Shirley Smith) a very busy early homesteader of the BC Peace River region. She worked over a period of a year – collecting materials and making everything as complete and detailed as possible – to replicate her girlhood home in Hays, AB from the 1930s. Although Hays is in southern Alberta, the cabin, in its design and furnishings, is very reminiscent of many contemporary cabins in the Peace Country. It was donated to the museum in 1972.
