The item is a repurposed artillery cannon, from approx. 1942-1944. John Matiasiewich made the lamp when he was working in the Suffield Army armory, where they made shells, bullets etc. He was stationed at that base from 1942-1945. The armory also tested weapons of all kinds, rifles, cannons, machine guns, gas masks, for the Allied forces.
