Purchased by early Brownvale settler Cecil McKenzie shortly after he arrived in the district in 1909. He used it to break the first soil in that area. Settlers were beginning to arrive and settle in the Berwyn/Griffin Creek area, but later development and settlement was postponed until after World War I.
